In order for the Free Lock system to function optimally and safely, a specific plastic grip must be used. In order to make the range of motion and the unlocking of the Free Lock system (in the event of a fall or the like) as predictable as possible, this plastic grip with a diameter of 30 mm is required.

A standard grip that is present on the bicycle or motorcycle is usually made of rubber. Due to the softer properties of the material, it is difficult to adjust a Free Lock safely and predictably.

This HB-Grip-30 is supplied as standard with every Free Lock. This replaces the existing grip on a bicycle or motorcycle. The grip offers three compartments to attach the Free Lock to, separated by special PU o-rings. The inner diameter of this grip is 22.5 mm and it is attached to the handlebars by means of three M6 Allen bolts. The grip fits on almost all bicycle and motorcycle handlebars and no holes need to be drilled in the handlebars.

For using Free Lock on a racing bike handlebar, a special grip set can be purchased, the RB-Grip-30. With this set, a small plastic grip can be attached to the side of a racing bike handlebar. Two aluminum parts are clamped around the handlebar and the grip is attached to them. This also does not require drilling into the racing bike handlebar.
